Nearly-wild camping at Ducks Paddle

Picture

Under the North Devon stars

In the heart of the idyllic North Devon countryside, under six miles from South Molton, and half an hour from Tiverton and the M5,
Ducks Paddle is off the beaten track, unspoilt and secluded, but still easily accessible.

The pace of life here is as relaxed as you want it to be, situated on an oak lined lane that was the old route
from East Worlington, over Meshaw Moor, to South Molton for centuries,
with no near neighbours, Ducks' is the most peaceful of settings.

With views of Exmoor and rolling Devon hills, it is a very special place that works its' magic on all who visit.

Less than a 1/4 of a mile away is Meshaw Moor Nature Reserve, and then pop over to the simply sublime inn, The Grove in Kings Nympton, which is about ten minutes drive away,
or the excellent Mitre in Witheridge, about eight minutes drive.

Our position midway between the North Devon and South Devon coasts makes us an excellent base to explore the stunning Devon countryside. Exmoor, Lynton & Lynmouth to the north, the vibrant City of Exeter and seaside town Exmouth to the east, the ancient port of Bideford and the North Cornish town of Bude,
as well as the super beaches of Woolacombe and Saunton Sands to the west, and the glowering Dartmoor,
and  the market town of Okehampton to the south.

Because of the sparsely populated nature of the area all the towns, and several villages and hamlets, host myriad events, such as fairs and festivals; music, food & drink are always to the fore and showcase local makers and producers and artists as well as those from further afield.

We welcome single travellers, and small groups at our discretion,
to that end, to try to keep it simple, we are offering a flat £7 per person charge per night before the Wanderlust membership fee:

We have a licence to welcome campers via Wanderlust, this allows us to open where we would not be able to due to council guidelines.

The way it works.

A member of any party must be member of the Wanderlust club, which we can arrange on the day,
this cost is a one-off fee per visit of £6.

so one night for one person would be £13, two nights would be £20

Only one person in a party needs to be enrolled.
The camping field is approximately an acre, mostly bordered by hedges with drainage leats,
with a small copse, our vegetable garden area and a wildlife pond at the northern end.

With a handful of pitches, around 20' diameter, and a communal fire-pit.
Basic facilities: water, and a sink are available, and a long drop toilet.
A (non private) camping shower can be connected to the standpipe for a refreshing wake-me-up, or cool down when it it hot.
Gated access, and space for parking.
Cars should be parked in the parking area, motorcycles may be parked by your tent, the ground is quite solid but uneven.
Please be considerate to any other guests when riding on the camping site.

We are open:

Every Friday to Sunday inclusive, from Easter 2025 - 18th to 21st of April - through to the weekend of the 12th to 14th of September.
Both May, and August Bank holidays are Friday to Monday inclusive.

Price per night £7 per person plus Wanderlust one-off fee of £6.
